Real italian tomato sauce

It’s always time for the real Italian tomato sauce:  slow-cooked  and so sweet! Find out my tricks to cook this delicious grandma recipe!

 

MAKES 1 BOWL SAUCE
READY IN 2h 20’

 

INGREDIENTS

3-4 extra virgin olive oil

¼  onion, chopped

1 stick celery

1 carrot

 

1 whole peeled tomatoes can

1 cherry tomatoes can

3 leaves basil

1 teaspoon oregano

 

Sugar and salt to taste

 

STEP 1: BROWN THE VEGETABLES

Place in a pan oil and vegetables, let them brown for about 3 minutes.

 

STEP 2: COOK

Add tomatoes and cherry tomatoes to the pan, then basil and oregano and cook the sauce slowly (for about 1,5 hours).

 

STEP 3: MILL THE SAUCE

Mill the sauce with a vegetable mill, then add a pinch sugar and salt to taste and cook for 45 minutes.
