Wholemeal shortcrust pastry

This is my secret for those looking for an easy idea to add some wholemeal to their diet.

Don’t worry: healthy food doesn’t mean tasteless! and this recipe is the proof . It’s very easy to make, has a lovely brown color and a particular taste that will enchant you. Fill the crust with whatever you like and the game is made.

What about savory pie for dinner?

INGREDIENTS

8 oz wholemeal flour

4 oz all-purpose flour

2 oz cold butter

2 oz extra virgin olive oil

2 pinches salt

9  tablespoons cold water

STEP 1: MAKE THE DOUGH

Put the flour, salt, butter, oil and water in a mixer and mix. If you don’t have a blender you can also knead the mixture by hand!).

STEP 2: KNEAD BY HAND

Transfer the mixture on the pastry board and  knead it by hand but quickly, so that the dough doesn’t get greasy. Wrap the dough in clingfilm and put it into the fridge.

STEP 3: ROLL OUT

Remove the dough from the fridge, roll it out using baking paper and a rolling pin.

.

STEP 4: PLACE INTO BAKING TIN

Remove the dough from the fridge, roll it out using baking paper and a rolling pin. Place the dough into a baking tin covered with parchment paper and make some holes using a fork.

Fill the pie with what you like most (here my veg idea), then cook it in preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes.
