Messina rolls

Actually, I didn’t respect the traditional steps of the recipe because I’m sorry for garlic, but I really don’t like it! And at home I had a nice fresh asiago instead of provola cheese … (how couldn’t I use it!?).

So in short, Sicilian friends will shiver a little, but I hope they will also turn a blind eye this time 😉

The result of my version of Messina rolls is delicious: tender slices (you’ll easly cut them with a fork) and A super cheesy filling!

SERVES 4 PEOPLE
READY IN 8-10 MINUTES

INGREDIENTS:

4 tablespoons breadcrumbs

3 tablespoons Parmigiano cheese

salt to taste

1 tablespoons parsley, minced

16 very thin beef slices

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Asiago cheese (or the cheese you like)

extra virgin olive oil to taste

STEP 1: MIX THE PANURE

Mix in a bowl: breadcrumbs, Parmigiano, salt and parsley.

STEP 2: BREAD THE MEAT SLICES

Brush the meat slices with oil then bread them wth the mixture prepared on step 1.

Place a cheese stick in the centre of each slice, then wrap it.

To seal the rolls, stick them with a toothpick two by two.

STEP: COOK

Put a drizzle of oil in a hot grill pan, place the roll on it and add a little more on the top.

Cook just 3-4 minutes by turning them on all sides.
